The Ideal Protein diet has quickly become one of the hottest trends in weight loss across the country, and some of the impressive results justify that popularity. This approach to weight loss is a four-phase process involving a diet rich in proteins and low carbs which espouses a ketogenic protocol that calls for the replacement of carbs with fats, and induces a state of ketosis in your body.

Some medical professionals are reluctant to endorse it because it calls for a drastic reduction in calorie intake for months at a time.  There are some risks involved with this particular approach. The whole idea came about in 2004, and was the brainchild of Dr. Tran Tien Chanh, a French physician. The overriding principle involved in this diet is a heavy emphasis on ingesting proteins, and in total it only allows for taking in about 1,100 calories per day. On the basis of this drastically reduced calorie intake, it seems apparent that some kind of significant weight loss should occur.

In order to safely progress through the four phases of the Ideal Protein diet, it is necessary to register at a clinic which offers the program, where medical personnel can guide you through the process. When you’re continuing the diet on your own, after you’ve been through the clinical program, you will of course be obliged to continue on with that same emphasis on proteins and minimizing the amount of carbs you take in.
